Hamed a rejoint NEOMA Business School en septembre 2017 et depuis avril 2020, il est professeur associé en gestion de la chaîne d'approvisionnement. Il est titulaire d'un master en statistiques et d'un doctorat en économie d'entreprise de la KU Leuven, en Belgique. Les recherches de Hamed portent notamment sur l'optimisation de la simulation (notamment à l'aide d'algorithmes basés sur le krigeage), l'étude des problèmes à l'interface entre le marketing et la OM, et l'analyse des pratiques de durabilité des chaînes d'approvisionnement par le biais de modèles de théorie des jeux. Ses recherches sont publiées dans IIE Transactions, European Journal of Operational Research et International Journal of Production Economics. Hamed est évaluateur ad hoc pour plusieurs revues, dont le Journal of the Operational Research Society et le European Journal of Operational Research. Hamed a participé à plusieurs projets industriels, notamment un projet de gestion des stocks pour l'IMEC et un projet de rationnement des stocks pour EuroGijbels (une entreprise de distribution de fruits et légumes en Belgique).
